Taking holistic approach to food, the first Local Roots Market & Cafe was established in Wooster by volunteers in 2009 to support local growers, producers, and artisans. A second market was opened in 2012 to support local products in the Ashland, Ohio area.
Founded in 1981 in Akron, Ohio by Margaret and Phillip Nabors, Mustard Seed Market & Cafe is the largest locally-owned retailer of natural and organic products in Ohio.
This family run business adheres to strict ingredient standards including no artificial colors, flavorings or harmful chemical preservatives, no saccharin or aspartame, and no irradiated foods. In-store meats are raised without the use of growth hormones, and never fed animal by-products.
You’ll find a number of our favorite local vendors featured in their stores including Keim Bros. maple syrup; eggs from Greenfield Farms, and Brunty Farms; and plants provided by Mulberry Creek Herb Farm.
