A small family farm located in rural Kinsman, Ohio, Floyd and Kim specialize in growing over 80 types of greens and produce known as “specialty crops,” in a sustainable manner utilizing mineral based fertilizers, cover crops, and other natural methods.
Red Basket Farm also offers a twelve month extended season production utilizing almost 20,000 square feet of greenhouse space, and growing “in the soil” using the same farming practices used in the fields. Currently producing field crops on approximately 15 acres, Red Basket has been able to harvest vegetables ranging from Artichokes to Zucchinis in the ever unpredictable Northeast Ohio weather.
In 1858, the first of six generations of Richardsons became plant and vegetable growers with property on Schaaf Road. Richardson’s is a fully-working 60-acre farm in Medina County that raises vegetables, herbs, corn (both sweet and Indian), pumpkins, and gourds. Each spring, their greenhouse is stocked with a healthy variety of locally-grown plants, vegetable plants, and herbs. You’ll find pick your own peaches and apples in their orchard, and a large pumpkin patch each fall. No farm is complete without some animals, so feel free to visit their cows, chickens, turkeys, and pigs!

You’ll find their mushrooms at local farmers markets, such as the Media Farmers’ Market, and used by fine area restaurants. Owner John Burmeister also offers spawn plugs for sale, and grow kits for those interested in growing our own mushrooms.
